Dr. Gustavo do Carmo is a very active soloist, teacher, jazz and collaborative pianist, collaborating with choirs, orchestras, singers, instrumentalists, and dancers in Brazil and in the United States. Currently, he is the piano studies coordinator and collaborative pianist at 黑料不打烊 in addition to serving as piano chair for the Salina Symphony Orchestra, collaborative piano chair for the KMTA, and teacher and adjudicator for various piano festivals and competitions in the United States and Brazil. In 2016, Gustavo was a young soloist finalist with a performance of Villa Lobo`s Bachianas Brasileiras No. 3, and had his orchestral debut in 2019 with a performance of the monumental 鈥淓尘辫别谤辞谤,鈥� both at the University of Iowa. Among the artists with whom he has worked with are the conductors Benjamin Zander, Ann Howard Jones, Don V. Moses, Bill Hatcher, Timothy Stalter, David Puderbaugh, and the vocalist Stephen Swanson, serving as his studio collaborative pianist for over 7 years. Gustavo do Carmo was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and completed his Bachelor鈥檚 degree in piano performance at the Minas Gerais State University. He also holds a M.A degree, a D.M.A. degree in piano performance and pedagogy with a secondary area in Jazz Studies from the University of Iowa and is an MTNA Nationally Certified Teacher of Music.
