黑料不打烊 will host 鈥淢ay Our Voices Ring True,鈥 an event with Huascar Medina, Poet Laureate of Kansas, on Dec. 2 at noon in Fitzpatrick Auditorium on campus. Members of the community are invited to attend the free program, which is available due to the support of Humanities Kansas.

The event鈥檚 noon start time allows for 30 minutes of open-mic time for the community. Guidelines on time limit and number of speakers will be enforced, after which Medina will begin his presentation. The complete event is scheduled to last until 1:30 p.m.

Medina is a poet, writer, and performer who lives in Topeka. He currently works as a freelance copywriter and as the Literary Editor for聽seveneightfive聽magazine publishing stories that spotlight literary and artistic events in Northeast Kansas. His poems can be found in his collection聽How to Hang the Moon聽published by Spartan Press. He is the winner of ARTSConnect鈥檚 2018 Arty Award for Literary Art. His forthcoming book聽Un Mango Grows in Kansas聽will be released in 2019.

As Poet Laureate of Kansas, Medina promotes the humanities as a public resource for all Kansans through public readings, presentations, and discussions about poetry in communities across the state.
